Meritage Homes is looking for a Consumer Research Director for our Strategic Operations Group.  This role will develop new business insights through qualitative research across the United States.   This information will help drive Sales, Marketing, Realtor, Product, and Land Acquisition strategies throughout multiple levels of the business.  This role will focus on not just an understanding of what characteristics a future homebuyer is looking for in our homes, but why are they looking for those things in a home.


The Consumer Research Director will:

  • Define qualitative behaviors of why people buy a home. 
  • Lead all focus group research initiatives
  • Develop, improve, and/or implement online surveys. 
  • Build out consumer segment profiles
  • Help prioritize the right home features for the right sized home through research
  • Help improve brand recognition and customer experience through research
  • Communicate strategies and findings effectively to upper management


This role will engage with other facets and levels of the company to help Meritage make sure that we are planning the homes and communities possible for our future buyers.   


  • A bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of experience in qualitative or consumer research.
  • Familiar with Project Management. Can handle several projects at once.
  • Experience in designing, deploying, and analyzing in person focus groups.  Previous experience working in a market research firm a plus.
  • OK with traveling for work. Approximately 20% travel throughout the Meritage’s footprint.
  • Professional presentation and strong emotional intelligence skills are a must.  This role heavily focuses on collaboration with both internal departments and external groups in order to influence operational marketing, brand awareness, and realtor strategy.
  • Must possess a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including writing formulas, linking worksheets, using pivot tables, charting data, and formatting.
  • Inquisitive, resourceful, and proactive.
  • Interested in working in a demanding & fast paced environment.
