Meritage Homes is looking for a skilled litigation paralegal to be a part of our in-house litigation management team.  The paralegal will be responsible for assisting litigation counsel who oversee and manage a broad range of cases in several jurisdictions across the country.  The paralegal must be a self-starter, highly organized, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes teamwork, work quality, and communication.  You will:      

  • Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
  • Maintain electronic litigation files
  • Assist with the drafting of letters, pleadings, motions and other legal documents
  • Be familiar with basic rules of civil procedure
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
  • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources, including interviews of employees, vendors, and other third parties
  • Coordinate and assist with discovery efforts and responses
  • Maintain and provide periodic claims and cost reports
  • Interface with outside counsel and operations teams from multiple company divisions with respect to claims and litigation matters
  • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage travel and other logistics, etc.)



  • 5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
  • Self-starter who is interested in growing professionally and who is flexible and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • College degree or paralegal training required
