The Architectural Drafter V will manage and produce single and multi-family site-specific residential permit plans using AutoCAD Architecture and Revit.  The Regional Drafter will also manage the Regional Construction Detail Book, Plan Vault and plan changes for marketing brochures and renderings.  As a business partner to the purchasing, construction, marketing, and management teams across the region the Regional Drafter V will understand and support division specific needs.   

The Architectural Drafter will:

  • Prepares and modifies architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, etc. in AutoCAD Architecture and/or Revit, utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Develops solutions to technical and design issues following established standards for the Regional Product Library.
  • Manages and produces site-specific residential permit plans for submittals to various municipalities, ARB’s / HOA’s, and homeowners’ requests as well as coordination with truss designers and structural and mechanical engineers.
  • Maintain South Region Plan Vault and file management, including regional base plan sets, divisional and municipality specific plan sets, as well as the Regional Construction Detail Book.
  • Assemble multi-family townhome buildings, elevations and slab plans, including step-downs, offsets, details, sections, national, divisional, and municipality codes.
  • Work with division purchasing and construction teams to develop construction details, value engineering efforts, and Energy Star/Green design changes. Ability to read and interpret structural, truss, HVAC, plumbing, and I-joist layouts as well as the IRC code book to develop detail cross sections.
  • Redline marketing brochures for accuracy; maintain changes, and communication with marketing in each division.




  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Required Minimum Associate’s degree (A.A.) in drafting, architecture, or equivalent from a two-year college.
  • 2+ years production experience in AutoCAD Architecture required; using advanced functions including 3-D drafting, BIM and Parametric Modeling, Sheet set manager, XRef manager, Palettes, and Design Center.
  • 2+ years of experience required in Revit and BIM Modeling
  • 5+ years of experience in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook required
  • 2-5 years of experience in home-building with general construction knowledge and ability to interpret blue prints and specifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software required.
  • Rendering software knowledge a plus: Lumion 6.0/3-D, Revisto, and 3D Studio MAX
  • International Residential Code certification preferred, having knowledge of zoning, residential building, and ADA/ANSI accessibility codes.
  • Design 2D and 3D illustrations from the technical specifications and architectural plans as per the sketches approved by the Regional Architecture Director
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Production Townhome Building Assembly
  • Comprehension of ARB documentation and requirements
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of full-time work experience in a production/residential construction and design environment.
  • Position has regular travel requirements to local job sites and meetings and may, from time to time, may be required to travel out of state for meetings, training, and visits to other office locations.
